St. Augustine Dining

St. Augustine dining begins with your choice of many great restaurants! With more than 250 choices, you find great restaurants to fit any pallet. Seafood? Chicken? Beef? Yes to all and many times over. We also have most of the major chains such as Outback, Applebees, Panera Bread, Chili’s, and many more. And of course, for you pancake lovers, yes, we do have International House of Pancakes. You can find many websites containing listings of St. Augustine restaurants but we know most of you are only here for a very short visit. With that in mind, we have listed a few of our top picks that we recommend to people time and again.  Enjoy St. Augustine fine dining and our beautiful city and please, come back again!

Restaurants
Our list below (you see their logos to the left) represent St. Augustine restaurants that we enjoy and suggest many times over. They each have a unique niche in our dining tapestry and we are confident that you will enjoy any one of them. Most of our recommendations have roots that go back to the 1980s and are well established and well known to locals. We are proud of our St. Augustine restaurants and take pride in sharing each one with you. Bon Appetite!

Lounges
Just a brief note about St. Augustine lounges. Like restaurants, you will find many to choose from, but for the sake of those of you who will only be here for a brief time, our first recommendation is the Conch House Restaurant, Lounge, and Marina. Enjoy a delicious cocktail over the water on St. Augustine’s Salt Run, not far from our Lighthouse. If you prefer something downtown, we would office establishments like A1A Ale Works, The Tradewinds, and The White Lion – all on our beautiful bayfront. We also like Scarlett O’Hara’s on downtown Hypolita Street and The Oasis on St. Augustine Beach.

And now, our dining recommendations!

Conch House Restaurant, Lounge, and Marina

This is our first pick and represents what best reflects how most people fantasize about Florida dining.  The Conch House features private thatched pods over Salt Run and their famous over-the-water lounge.  Their full service award-winning casual restaurant features the finest seafood, steaks, salads, and Caribbean-style cuisine. Sit down under a palm tree on the outside deck or dine in one of the unique Jamaican styled grass huts out over the water. 57 Comares Avenue, Anastasia Blvd., St. Augustine – 904.829.8646.

Cap’s On The Water

Cap’s On The Water is another top pick for us because like The Conch House, it sits on the water. Located north of St. Augustine at Vilano Beach, Cap’s is on the Intracoastal Waterway, and is an excellent dining spot for viewing the sunset from their outdoor deck. They prepare new coastal cuisine, pairing fresh local seafood with traditional Southern, as well as Mediterranean flavors. A large outdoor deck, a sunset oyster bar, a full bar and an intimate indoor dining room, all offer breathtaking views of the Intracoastal Waterway. 4325 Myrtle St., Vilano Beach – 904.824.8794.

Gypsy Cab Company

Gypsy has been with us since 1983 and was opened by Ned Pollack, a very popular chef with a golden touch as a restaurateur. He started in St. Augustine with a wonderful breakfast spot, Malaga Street Depot and if you could get a seat, you’d enjoy some of the best breakfast entrees on the planet. After a couple of years Ned moved on to opening Gypsy Cab Company that sits in the shadow of the St. Augustine Lighthouse on Anastasia Island, just across the Bridge of Lions in Downtown St. Augustine.  Gypsy describes itself as serving “Urban Cuisine” where the fare draws on multiple influences including Italian, German, Cajun, Mediterranean, classical European, Southern, Oriental, and "Floribbean." Ask any local and they’ll give a “thumbs up” to this popular restaurant. 828 Anastasia Blvd., St. Augustine – 904.829.9080.

Ned’s Southside Kitchen

Did I say the name “Ned” again? Sure did! It’s Ned Pollack of Gypsy Cab opening another great dining spot on US1 South (south of Wal-Mart on the other side of the street). You’ll see Ned here most evenings working hard in the kitchen to prepare his famous dishes. For those in St. Augustine who live south of the Historic Downtown area, Ned’s Southside Kitchen is a welcomed addition. Wonderful seafood, sandwiches, salads, all in a comfortable and casual atmosphere. May we recommend that you try Ned’s Blackened Chicken Nachos --- with a glass of wine of course! 2450 US 1 South, St. Augustine – 904.794.2088.

A1A Ale Works

So you’d like to sit on an outdoor second-floor balcony that overlooks St. Augustine’s bayfront? And you’d like to drink a flavorful beer brewed a few steps away? And you’d like to enjoy delicious seafood and salads? Great sandwiches? Delicious beef? Tasty chicken? Go no further than A1A Ale Works. We’ll say no more! 1 King Street, St. Augustine – 904.829.2977.

Raintree Restaurant

If you were celebrating your anniversary and asked me what would be the best restaurant, hands down, it would be the Raintree Restaurant. The Raintree Restaurant balances quality food with an intimate yet open ambiance situated in a century old Victorian home. Built in 1879, it stands as a reminder of the Victorian heyday of the area. Customers may choose to dine in the interior garden atrium, a traditional Victorian dining room with a fireplace, or the spacious outdoor courtyard featuring gazebos and koi fountain. Since opening in 1981, we have been recognized internationally as one of Florida’s top destination restaurants. 102 San Marco Ave., St. Augustine – 904.824.7211.

Le Pavillon

Like the Raintree, Le Pavillon has represented fine dinning in St. Augustine since the early 1980s. Their flair for delicious European cuisine has won numerous dining awards for the owners, now in their second generation of management. This top-of-the-line restaurant deserves your consideration for that very special evening you are planning in St. Augustine. 45 San Marco Ave., St. Augustine, 904.824.6202.
